Kids on a Bug Hunt!
Like
The verb "like" is one of the first verbs you want to teach the kids. It is very useful along with "have".
Occupations
Teacher Oi says,
With this one, copy enough for all the students, cut them out and arrange in piles. Then have the students queue up to choose one. Have one student ask each of them, "What do you want to be?" The student replies, "I want to be a nurse." etc. The student handing out the pictures can then say, "Here you are.", give the picture and the other student can reply,"Thank you."
Always delegate as many of the jobs, like handing out paper, to the students. There is always an opportunity for the students to speak and do something instead of boring old teacher. And they love having tasks to do.

Seasons
Teacher Phit says,
There's lots to do with seasons. Start with the vocab on flashcards (seasons, Summer, hot etc), then work together through the reading sheet. First you, then all the students together. Do one passage at a time. Always review every class and get individual students to read aloud on their own. They soon will and they we will be very proud of themselves.
Later, as a project, split them into groups and get them making big posters of each season, use coloured card to make sun, trees etc. If you can afford it, buy some cotton wool for clouds and snow too. They should make a masterpiece that you can stick up in the classroom.
Farm Animals
Teacher Gee says,
Farms are good subjects and you can combine the farm animals with colours and numbers. You can make a fun cut and paste picture of the farmyard and the animals too.
Monsters
Teacher Jim says,
Monsters are a great subject, especially with the boys, but you can use fairies to capture the girls imaginations. A great opportunity to teach some adjectives (big, scary, bad etc.)
A simple colouring sheet after they have done their reading will give them a break and you will see how artistic they are..
Prepositions in the Classroom
Teacher Bob says,
Here's a good one. Give each student a photocopy of the classroom and the classroom objects. Then write on the board 5 sentences. (e.g. The pencil is in the desk, The clock is on the wall etc.)
Go through it with the students, reading it together and then eliciting the meaning.
After they can read it and understand it, then the students can do a cut and glue exercise completing the picture. If you have time they can copy the sentences in their exercise book.
Don't forget to staple all their work into their exercise books. This encourages them to keep it, and NOT to lose it. Actually, making sure the students always have their books is a challenge you must win. If they leave them at home, don't let them take them home and keep them in the classroom for your lesson.
Food
Teacher Tom says,
Food, of course, is an essential subject in any culture and it is very easy to teach as there is so much scope for activities and subject matter.
Birthday
Again, lots of scope here for vocab and activities.
Get them to write when their birthday is, cut out the candles and glue them on the cake. Simple.
Normally, it is best for them to colour the picture before gluing as the glue makes it wet.
